This may actually seem like a bit of a strange question, on first glance, but when you consider the fact the UK dentists charge such exorbitant and unrealistic prices for their services, it soon becomes very sensible indeed. Couple to this the fact that NHS dental services seem like they are really a figment of the government's imagination and we now become clear as to why many UK citizens have no alternative than to travel abroad for dental work. When looking for a dentist abroad , it is vitally important that you do not head to the country that offers the absolute cheapest costs. There are likely to be reasons for this low rate and health and hygiene is usually the first casualty. Make sure you choose a reputable dental professional and plenty of research beforehand will never do you any harm. Verify the credentials of said dentist and find out which national official affiliations they hold. Find out what the minimum level of affiliation should be in the specific country that you are investigating. (more...) Locating a great value London hotel can sometimes feel like trying to find a needle in a haystack. The fact is, London is widely reputed to be the second most expensive city in the world (after Tokyo) and therefore cheap hotel rooms can seem like an impossibility. However, by following a few simple rules in this regard, lower rates could still be on the cards. First of all, steer clear of the west of London; especially around Kensington, Mayfair… those prestigious areas where extortionate room rates will be commanded. Instead, head farther north, east and south and the farther you venture out of the central area, the more likely you will find a reasonable rate. Whilst in London, it may also be a good idea to lower your usual star preference rate. For example, if you usually prefer a four star property, lower this to at least a three star, better still, two even. This way you will look at saving yet more money during your stay in the capital. Having been a professional travel writer for a number of years and been lucky enough to travel to hundreds of destinations in 26 countries to date, I have to put my hands in the air and admit to the fact that I have fallen pray to the advertising gimmicks of the low cost airlines. And during that time I have learnt that these campaigns really are nothing more than gimmicks! Like anyone else, if I can save quite a few pounds on flights to a certain destination, I am going to jump at it and this is why I did travel with low cost airlines for a time. However, when I reflect on the level of service that I have generally received, in comparison with the more traditional airlines, the few pounds saved no longer looks so appealing. You see, I have learnt that the low cost airlines use this title as a convenient excuse to deny their passengers an acceptable level of basic customer service and actually make an art of ripping people off in every other conceivable way. The price that will come up against a flight, when you first enquire, will be an absolute load of rubbish. (more...)
